Orthodontic  Alternatives          Dr. Pickett is very skilled in alternative procedures that can correct many orthodontic situations.  Dr. Pickett does provide a full range of cosmetic related orthodontics, however, there are times when a corrective cosmetic procedure may provide the necessary results.  A misaligned arch, a single out-of-place tooth, a missing tooth, a crooked tooth, and gap's between teeth are common conditions that can be addressed.                                   A crown is often used to correct a crooked tooth.  The crooked tooth is reshaped so a crown can be fitted and aligned in such a way to be cosmetically correct with the characteristics of the smile.              A misaligned tooth can be removed and a bridge or implant can be used to fill the gap of the removed tooth.               A partial denture can be used when a misaligned tooth is removed.  The retainer-like appliance supports a porcelain tooth attached to the appliance framework.  The removable appliance is connected to the neighboring teeth.   It can be removed while sleeping.            A bonding procedure can add size to a tooth.  This is a simple single dental visit alternative used in certain conditions to fill a gap or to contour the shape of a tooth.          A veneer is a popular treatment option to replace gap's between the teeth, correct the color, length or misalignment of the teeth.  Veneer's are often called "Instant Orthodontics" because they can close the gaps between teeth or straighten crooked teeth in as few as two appointments.        A full mouth reconstruction addresses the entire mouth much like orthodontics.  Perhaps due to a bad bite, misaligned teeth, old large fillings and/or discolored teeth full mouth reconstruction is the better alternative.
