Sports Guards |
|
|
Over 5 million teeth are knocked out every
year in sporting activities!
The American Dental
Association recommends that children, teenagers and even adults who
are active in sports wear a custom fabricated mouth guard - Sports
guard.
A store bought (a boil and fit) mouth guard is far
from ideal because they do not fit correctly often interfering with
breathing and speaking. They can also place pressure on certain
teeth.
Our office makes custom, professional -grade mouth
guards that fit correctly and provides a better chance of preventing
injury. |

A tooth lost to a
sporting activity could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars to
replace. |

Night Guards |
|
|
| It's a natural
process for your teeth for your teeth to grind down as you grow
older. You use your teeth to bite, chew, and for speech. Nightly
tooth grinding is the primary cause of tooth size loss. 8 out of 10
people do suffer from some degree of tooth loss from nightly teeth
grinding. Grinding can also cause headaches, neck pain, cracked
teeth, TMD, and trauma to teeth resulting in extensive dental work,
such as root canals and crowns. Dr. Pickett can fabricate a
Night Guard appliance to stop tooth grinding as you sleep. |

Splints |
| |
There are different types of splints
for different purposes:
- A bruxism splint- is worn mostly at night and helps you
stop clenching or grinding your teeth and reduces muscle tension.
- A repositioning appliance- moves your jaw forward
re-aligning parts of your jaw. It's worn 24 hours a day to help
your jaw heal.
- An orthopedic stabilization appliance- is worn 24
hours, or only at night. It relaxes the muscles and lets your
joint move into it's proper position.
